Zaterdag 10 oktober 2015: Lefkas: zon; 26°C, Amsterdam zon 13 °C.
Vanmorgen om 06.40 uur opgehaald met een bus voor de transfer naar het vliegveld van Aktio/Preveza. Niet een vliegveld waar je grote afstanden moet lopen of zo.
Eén vertrekhal (sept15061) en gewoon naar het vliegtuig lopen (sept15062). Keurig op tijd vertrokken. Vervolgens 100 km noordelijker een tussenlanding op Corfu. Die luchthaven
is al ietsje groter (sep15063). Wel moest iedereen het vliegtuig uit omdat er getankt moest worden. Kwartier later er weer in. Ten noorden van de Alpen verdween de
bewolking en had je een aardig uitzicht (sept15064). 45 minuten eerder dan volgens schema geland op Schiphol waar taxibedrijf Hendrika van Oorschot mij stond op te wachten
en mij, met enige omzwervingen, keurig thuis heeft gebracht. Waarvoor hulde ! Het is in vele opzichten een hele bijzondere en vaak emotionele reis geweest. Alles op een rij
zettende ben ik blij dat ik deze reis u gemaakt heb en niet heb gewacht op augustus 2016. Bedankt voor ieders belangstelling en medeleven. Tot het volgende reisverslag wellicht.
This morning picked up at 06:40 pm with a bus for the transfer to the airport of Aktion/Preveza. Not an airport where you have to walk long distances or so. One
departurehall and just walk to the plane. Neatly left on time. Then 100 km north stopover at Corfu. This airport is already slightly larger. However, everyone had to leave
the plane because it was to be refueled. Fifteen minutes later went in again. North of the Alps, the clouds disappeared and you had a nice view. Landed 45 minutes earlier
than scheduled at Schiphol where taxi Hendrika van Oorschot was waiting for me and, with some wandering, neatly brought home. A tribute to her for this! It was in many respects
a very special and often emotional journey. All in a row outlining I'm glad I made this trip now and did not wait for August 2016. Thanks for everyone's interest and sympathy.

Also today with the car on the road. First to the waterfalls of Nidri. Proved, as expected, now only to be a small stream along the wall of pumped water. Then to Vasiliki on
the south-west part of Lefkada and then on to the west coast. Stepping out at one of the finest beaches, Egremni. Nevertheless had not the energy to go down all 355 steps to
the beach. Have done a bit, just enough for a nice view (Sept.15059). Then drove to the slightly more northern beach of Gialos (Sept. 15060). Then again much the same way back
and ended at Camping Dessimi Beach. There, parked car and then another, always tiring, walk made to pebbeltjesbeach. Dimitris was not at the camping so driven to his home in Vlycho
to say goodbye and to thank him again for everything he, both in June / July as now, has done for us/me. Car handed in and suitcase has largely been packed. Must be less
than the outbound flight, but is a lot fuller. Strange phenomenon. Now farewell dinner in the Panorama. Then a couple of glasses white wine in my private pool-bar.
Last belongings in the suitcase and tomorrow has te be ready at 06:40 pm in the main street for the bus to the airport. After a stop in Corfu I should be around 13:30 hours
at the Schiphol Amsterdfam airport.

This morning with the rented car went in the direction of Vasiliki. Than went through the mountain roads to the Blue Church. We visited this church every year because of the
beautifull view you have from here. In July we did not because Els found the last part of the road to bad to drive and walking it was too difficult for her. So now I have
reinstated the tradition. From there drove to Kathisma Beach, the most visited and commercial beach on the west coast of Lefkas. But also over there the season has ended. Than via
Lefkas-town back to Nydri and ended at the campingsite Dessimi Beach. Made a walk to the pebbeltjesbeach from there and after drank a little white wine at the camping. Dimitris
again paying for it. With the car back to the hotel and tonight diner at the Mamma Mia and saying goodbye to Spiros and company.

First this morning went by boat to the Camping Dessimi Beach. There around 11.00 a.m. the boat was taken out of the sea and put on his trailer. Meantime the buyer agreed to the
original terms and the boat was sold. Have a form full of Greec stamps to make it official. The money was in my bankaccount within one hour (advantage of interet banking).
After I removed all the stuff from the boat to be stored at the house of Dimitris we stayed some time in the camping restaurant which officialy is closed. But together
with Dimitris and a couple of other people we drank a little bit (to much). In the meantime thunderstorms were causing much rain so Dimitris was so kind to drive me back to
my hotel. Tonight diner at the Panorama. De next 2 days I have rented a car to still be a little mobile outside Nidri ad direct vicinity.

This morning first went with the boat to the Camping Dessimi to talk about getting the boat out this afternoon in stead of tomorrow morning. Tomorrow the weather forecast
says it will probably rain. Found out that the boss of the Camping Dimitris was away for the day so the old plan, getting the boat out tomorrow morning, stays in place.
After Dessimi went with the boat along the South-East coast of Lefkas for a bit. The rest of the day was the same as most days. Selling of the boat gives all kind of
complications from the buyers site so I think I will cancel the sell and just trade the boat in next year in the Netherlands. Tonight again diner at the Mamma Mia.
Maandag 5 oktober 2015: Lefkas: zon; 27°C.
Vanochtend eerst een stuk gelopen in de richting van de waterval van Nidri. Langs de weg zie je veel mooie planten en bloemen (sept 15045 t/m 15047)
waar Els tijdens haar laatste verblijf hier ook zo van heeft genoten. Na de wandeling met de boot een rondje om het eiland Scorpios heen gemaakt. Bij het grote
badhuis (sept 15048) mag je niet meer in de buurt komen, maar bij het kleine badhuis (sept 15049), waar Onassis en Jacq. Kennedy voor het eerst gefotografeerd werden, is de enige
plek waar je nog, tot het hek, voet aan wal mag zetten. Daarna nog even voor een strandje gelegen en via Taverna Porto Spilia weer terug. Vanavond diner in de Panorama.
This morning first walked about 1 hour in the direction of the Nidri waterfall. Along the way you can see many beautifull plants and flowers which Els during her last stay
here enjoyed so much. After the walking made a tour with the boat around the island of Scorpios. You may not longer come close to the large bath house, but at the small
bath house, where Onassis and Jacq. Kennedy for the first time were photographed together, you can set foot ashore (until the fence). After spending some time at another beach and
taking a break at Taverna Porto Spilia, went back to Nidri. Tonight again diner at the Taverna Panorama.

Zondag 4 oktober 2015: Lefkas: zon, regen, zon, regen, zon; 27°C.
Vandaag weer een wadeldag. Dus te voet op weg naar het pebbeltjesstrand. Een aardig stuk lopen waarbij met name het eerste stuk wat vervelend is, namelijk de weg van
Nydri naar Vlycho (sept.15044). Op het strandje een tijdje in de zon gelegen totdat er vrij spontaan erg donkere wolken zich lieten zien. Om 12.15 uur zat ik onder een
olijfboom te schuilen voor ee grote plensbui. Om 12.45 was het weer over en kwam de zon weer door en kon ik de handdoek etc laten drogen. Rond 13.30 uur zag ik weer
donkere wolken verschijnen en ben dus maar op de terugweg gegaan. Toen Dessimi Beach in het oog kwam begon het weer te regenen. Snel doorgelopen en gaan schuilen op
de Camping Dessimi Beach. Daar afgesproken dat woensdag de boot uit het water gaat en op de trailer. Na een paar fikse buien werd de lucht weer blauw en ben ik weer
teruggelopen naar Nidri. Vanavond diner in de Mamma Mia.
Today spent walking to the pebbeltjesbeach and back. A long walk where the first part is very annoying, the road of Nidri to Vlycho. Spent some time on tghe beach in the sun,
until dark clouds came in. At 12.15 p.m. uur I was sittig under a large olive tree to take shelter for the heavy rainfall. At 12.45 the rain stopt and the sun started shining
again so I could dry my towel a.s.o. Around 1.30 p.m. I saw dark clouds appear again so I started my way back. At Dessimi Beach it started raining again. Walked quickly and
took shelter at the Camping Restaurant. There agreed that de boat will be taken out of the water Wednesday aroud 11.00 a.m. After a few heavy showers the clouds dissapeared
ad the sun was back in place and I walked back to Nidri. Tonight diner in de Mamma Mia.

This morning started with a quiet breakfast besides the swimming pool. After that went out with the boat. Intension was a larger trip to the islands of Kalamos and Kastos.
In the seestreet between Lefkas and Meganissi the sea proved a lot rougher than the weather forecast indicated. So, instead made a tour around Meganissi. Along the little
bay with the remains of a fisherman's cottage and a little further a small beach were we often anchored with the boat in August, because also in the high season hardly ever
anybody came to that spot. After spending some time at another beach and taking a break at Taverna Porto Spilia, went back to Nidri. Tonight again diner at the Taverna
Panorama because the Mamma Mia has a Greec Night and than the waiter with the tail always has some stress.

First, this morning after a quick breakfast, to Camping Dessimi Beach to fill up the petrol tank of the boat. Then to the small, uninhabited, island
Thilia that is situated between Lefkada and Meganissi. Climbed up the little hill on the island to see if the small church is there still. That was still there
but was completely closed. Actually, that's been the case since the Chruch Bell (and Clapper) from the tree next to the Church is stolen. Back to the boat that stayed
now unattended in the Bay of the island, but that no problem here yet. Then a while stayed in front of the pebbeltjesbeach and, as usual, via Taverna Porto Spilia back
to Nidri. Diner tonight in Panorama. If the purchase price is indeed being paid into my bank account the boat is sold and the HP7 ~ Dolphin (where the ~ sign represents
the image of a leaping little Dolphin) will next spring be replaced by the HP8 ~ Els.

This morning, after breakfast went by boat to the Dessimi camp site to make arrangements for next Wednesday getting the boat out of the water and back on the trailer.
The service man of the boat was also at the camp site and said that I still did not gave him my bank account number so he could pas it on to the buyer of our boat and
could transfer the money for the boat. Business spoken again and further appointments made (as far as that is possible over here) on the further course of action.
I find it very difficult to say goodbye to "our" last boat. On the other hand, Els and I have been to the dealer in July 2014 to look for a new boat. Would use the holidays
on Lefkada to study the brochures even further and pass on our decision upon our return from Greece to let know what new boat it would be. But when we returned
Els was very seriously ill and we cancelled the boat project. Further anchored at a beach, pause held in Taverna Porto Spilia and then again back to Nidri.
Tonight to the Mamma Mia.

No use of the boat today. Just went for the long walk, including the "boulevard" of Vlycho, to the pebbeltjesbeach. Very hot over there because there weas no wind at all.
On my way back just walked through Camping Dessimi Beach to say goodbye to a number of regular guests who are leaving for home tomorrow. Also had a drink in the restaurant
under the supervison of the yougest generation of the Dessimi cats. From there walked back to the hotel and will be having diner tonight in he Panorama.

This morning after breakfast, said goodbye to Joyce and Paul, who today on a pleasant time fly back to the Netherlands. Took a little trip with the boat, including along a cruise
ship that has anchored for the port of Nidri. On the sea met an Austrian with his boat from the Camping Dessimi Beach and had a short conversation with him.
After that anchored for some small beaches and doing some reding and swimming; also at the "pebbeltjesstrand"; via Taverna Porto Spilia on Meganissi back to Nidri.
Tonight to the Mamma Mia for diner.

Again beautiful weather today. So made a tour with the boat around the island of Lefkas. Joyce and Paul, the Dutch couple from the hotel, went along this trip.
After finishing the tour went to Taverna Porto Splilia on Meganissi were we all had something to eat and drink. Then slowly sailed back to Nidri. Diner tonight in the Panorama.

Great weather this morning so went out with the boat. First, a bit along the beaches of Nidri. After that anchored a while at a beach located on the South-East coast of Lefkas.
A little later I met a Dutch couple that stays in the same hotel as me and where I had several times a conversations with at breakfast. They had rented a boat. Pointed out
the Dad cave on Meganissi and the there located cliffs jut behind the cave. Went along with them to these sites. Later encountered them again in Taverna Porto Splilia
on Meganissi. If weather conditions are good I'm going to make a trip with them tomorrow around Lefkada with the HP7 ~ Dolphin. Tonight diner in the Mamma Mia by invitation
of the Dutch couple in the Hotel George.

It has rained all night and part of the morning. When it became dry made another walk of 9 km to the pebbeltjesbeach. Back via Dessimi Beach, and a stop at the campingsite for
a small carafe of wine (on the house). Then went back to the hotel. Walking back the Sun started shining through the clouds. Tomorrow the weather should be sunny according
to the forecasts. If so, then once again with the boat out. Diner tonight at the Panorama again because I'm not in the mood for a Greec Night at the Mamma Mia.

This morning after breakfast, it stopped raining and the Sun came by between the clouds. So walked, like yesterday, to the pebbeltjesbeach; always in full sun despite heavy
clouds around. After a while having sat on the beach started on my way back. The water came pouring out of the sky and formed complete rivers on the road. So made a small detour
and went to Dessimi Beach Camping to take shelter. Overthere met some of the regular guests met who I haven't seen before. The campingboss, Dimitris, then drove me by car to the
hotel in Nidri because it is still pouring. Eat out tonight in the Taverna Panorama where we on the same date a year ago opened an bottle of bubbles.

This morning we had a few small rain showers and some thunderstorms you heard in the distance. So did not go boating today but walked to the pebbeltjesstrand.
There spent some time in the sun and did some e-reading; than walked back to Nidri again. If you like to watch you can see many beautiful flowers in the wild.
De boat service man again came up with someone who wants to buy our boat. Offers a good price, but i'm not completely sure I will sell the boat. Last year, before leaving
for Lefkas Els and I went to our boatdealer in Giethoornnlooking for a new boat. Said we would make a choice during our stay on Lefkas and finish the deal upon return.
By the illness of Els of course we did not made a new deal. But we had already made a choice.In addition, there are a few technical problems, such as where do I leave until next spring
all the things that afre stored in the boat etc. First get diner at the Mamma Mia tonight.

This morning after breakfast, first bought a cap against the sun. Then talked to manager who Spiros had now arranged to get another parkingplace for the boat.
Then to the lighthouse island next to the island of Kalamos. Els saw in 2011 there a sea lion who looked at her very curious. Since then we went every year a couple of
times back there to see if the family sea lion had returned. Never seen again and also today a no show. Docked some time at a beach and finally back to Nidri to park
the boat on his new spot. After that a glass of wine at the bar of the hotel and then out to dinner at the Panorama

This morning first went for a coffee with the Scheveningers on board of their boat. Then with the HP7 ~ Dolphin to Dessimi Bay where I came across Richard from Poland
on his little boat. Had a short conversation and than went on. Anchored near some little beaches. In the afternoon went for lunch tot Taverna Porto Spilia on the island of
Meganissi. On arrival in Nidri I had to park the boat once more somewhere else. Had diner at theTaverna Mamma Mia and went later with a taxi to Camping Dessimi Beach to have
a drink with Richard and Irena from Poland. Richard brought me back to my hotel in Nidri on his scooter. Things actually are all the same as other times on Lefkas,
but still feel so very different.

Yesterday evening a heavy thunderstorm with great big drops of water as can clearly been seen in the hotel's swimming pool.
Early this morning also a few drops of rain but then it became dry and even the Sun shined a little bit. Went for a walk to the "pebbeltjesbeach", around the
whole Bay of Vlycho. Is almost 2 hours of walking; so about 10 km. Overthere stayed on the beach and did some reading and watching (sailing) boats. When I felt the first
drops of rain I started on my way back. The more I walked towards Nidri, the harder it started to rain. Fortunately bought this morning an umbrella for € 4,-,
so I could use it to stay a littler bit dry. Arriving in Nidri I checked the boat briefly looked and then went back to the hotel. After a visit to the bar I will have
diner at Taverna Panorama. In all the years we have been to Lefkas the Taverna Panorama was the one we visited by far the most and was also the place where we last year,
on September 25th, celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with a bottle of bubbles. Do have quite a few of the Panorama waiters spoken, but still not everyone, as the owner.

This morning Kostas, the boss of the boatservice picked me up at the hotel en drove to his shop where our boat is parked. First got everything out we put in just to store it
during winter and then filled up the gastank. For the first time in 40 years something has dissapeared, to be precise 100 liter of gas. The morning we unexpectecly had to leave
I filled the tank complete. Now only 25% was left. Well things happen, even in Greece. After that put the boat in the water and sailed to Dessimi Beach. Had a coffe with one of
the people from Austria. After that went along the South-East coast and anchored to clean uo the inside of the boat. Next stop was Porto Spilia on Meganissi; also overthere kind
and warm reactions on the death of Els. Also they already new the ba dnews before I came. After having some chips and drinks went to Nidri. The spot I could park the boat
according to Spiros (owner of the Taverna Mamma Mia) I could not use because some over the top Englishman told me he was the boss of the jetty and he had not given an OK for it.
Luckily there was a spot free on the next boat jetty, so I anchored the boat overthere. Tonight going for diner at the Mamma Mia to hear what went wrong. Tonight and tomorrow the expect
some rain with thunder(storms) so I put the cover over the boat.

This morning at 03.00 AM left home. My neighbor Henny has sacrificed herself on this midnight time to drive me to Schiphol Amsterdam Airport. Left at 06.00 AM with
ArkeFly to Preveza, the airport located on the mainland of Greece. Small airport so no long walks to get your luggage. From the airport to Nidri by bus. Around 11.00 AM arrived at
Hotel George in Nidri. After unpacking made a 5 km walk from Nidri to our Camping Dessimi Beach. Along the way met some people we have known for years. All knew what
happened to Els and showed a lot of compassion. At the campingrestaurant, "on the house" ate some chips and drank a orange juice and some other (alcoholic) drinks.
After talking to some of the people at the camping who also stay overthere every year, walked back to the boatshop. Agreed to put the boat in the water tomorrow morning.
At the gasstation got the telephonenumber of the owner, John. If I need to fill the petroltank of the boat I just need to call him and he comes to the harbour.
After that back to Nidri. In the evening had diner at the Mamma Mia. Also overthere everyone up was to date and full of compassion. Sat at our "fix" table were the empty
chair is confrontational and thereby emotionally. Not unusul after standing up in the morning at 02.00 o'clock, the flight and so on, walking 10 km and all emotions.
Tomorrow the weather should be OK but after that rain is expected for a couple of days.
